The admission process is almost over in most of the schools. The Ibrahim Mohalla Education Committee has worked with a lot of commitment and dedication over these last 5 months to ensure that new admissions are done in standard schools.

A total of 28 admissions were done in standard schools and Montessori’s this year. Out of these 6 were admitted to Montessori-only schools, which we consider sub-standard simply for the purpose of monitoring these children so that they are admitted to standard schools later.

School-wise breakdown of these 28 children is as follows:

Most of the children NOT GOING TO SCHOOL are at the borderline of the admission age and parents prefer to wait a little longer before admitting them in schools. These children will, Inshallah, be admitted to standard schools next year.

In the lower age groups, children who appear in SUB-STANDARD SCHOOLS category are those who are going to Montessori-only schools which, as explained above, are classified as sub-standard.

There are always a few parents, who refuse to be counselled, despite the best efforts of the Education Team and even the Aamil Saheb. These are the ones who make up the majority of the children in the sub-standard category.

There is still a lot of work ahead. As per the Raza of Shazada Abbas Bhaisaheb Fakhruddin Saheb (DM) we are focusing on HSC students for the first time. Along with that we shall also start identifying children who have not done well academically. Results are being collected for this purpose.

Finally, we will also be working during the latter part of the year to update the database. This includes updating information on all school going children, such as current class, change in school. This exercise also includes identifying children who have left the Mohalla and new births.
